I just got done reading a phenomenal book and even though it’s not free anymore as it was when I bought it, I am posting a review of it because it is just that amazing.
Review
They Almost Always Come Home is an amazing story. Cynthia Ruchti starts the story off with a brilliant stream of consciousness narrative. I’ve dealt with trauma and grief and the emotions that Ruchti described are right on target. I felt like she was writing the thoughts that had come to my mind. From wondering how you will cope with someone’s death when he is only five minutes late getting home to agonizing over the last thing that you said to the person Ruchti has it covered. This book made me cry and helped me realize that I am not alone in my thinking patterns when it comes to grief.
Synopsis
They Almost Always Come Home tells the story of Libby who’s husband fails to return from a trip to the Canadian wilderness. Libby has already dealt with the loss of her daughter a few years before which Libby feels has destroyed her marriage. She has to come to terms with the fact that at first she doesn’t care that her husband hasn’t come home, but then she’s furious at him for leaving her. Libby, her friend Jen, and her father-in-law Frank go on a journey emotionally, spiritually, and physically to find Libby’s husband Greg. They Almost Always Come Home tells of their journey.
